When I first got this mp3 player I thought I had been sent a dud. I charged it up, it lit up and everything, but for the life of me I couldn't get it to read the microSD card and play any music. After I accidentally threw away the packaging, I knew I couldn't return it so I devoted an afternoon to getting it to work, and I did! Here's a little checklist for getting it to work with a Mac (and a PC, you'll just have to search around for certain stuff):

1. Make sure it is set to OFF when plugged in for charging. When the light stops flashing, you're charged up.
2. Put the microSD card in an SD card adapter and plug that into your computer.
3. Open Disk Utility (Applications>Utilities) and format the card to FAT. (Select the card from the sidebar then go to "Erase" and select FAT from that drop-down menu)
4. The mp3 player will never show up in your iTunes, but luckily you can select whatever songs you want from iTunes and drag them over to the microSD card in Finder.
5. The microSD slot on the mp3 player has a little spring mechanism that allows you to pop the card in and out, however, you've got to push the card really far in there to make it "catch".. it'll feel like you're going to lose the card in the body.

All of that being said, it's 10 bucks, and once you do all this troubleshooting it should work. So I can't really complain.

OTHER THINGS PEOPLE MAY HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT WITH THIS:
1. There's no "shuffle" function, it plays in numerical order, so if you load up a ton of albums you'll be wading through a bunch of track ones. Which is sort of like a shuffle!
2. It only reads mp3s. No m4a, no FLAC, JUST MP3. Here's a link on how to convert any non-compatible formats to mp3 within iTunes: [...]
3. If you hold down the PAUSE button for a couple seconds before you turn it off it'll start back up from where you left out.
